Installing External Receivers in Vehicles with Metal Boxes

Locate the tracker in the cab with the best protected view of the sky just above the back of the seat and with the LED status lights viewable. Run a standard Cat5 Ethernet cable from the tracker to the box of the vehicle. Locate the external receiver in the box of the vehicle at the top (Green Arrow - Figure 1). If this is not practical, then locate the external receiver in the vehicle at the top of the front wall inside the box (Blue Arrow - Figure 1).

Installing External Receivers in Warehouses

Mount the Tracker at one end of the run between the chosen locations. Plug in a standard computer Ethernet cable (NOT a crossover cable) into the Tracker. The Middle External Receiver(s) will have 2 pigtails (Figure 3) and the External Receiver at the end will only have 1 pigtail (Figure 2). Run the Ethernet cable(s) to the External Receiver(s). Plug in the Tracker once mounting is complete. The external receivers get their power from the tracker through the Ethernet cable. Carefully open the lids to the external receivers and make certain all external receivers have a red LED on indicating they have power. Take your 10 test tags close to each external receiver, a flashing green LED light will indicate that they are picking up tags. Email status when installs are complete.
