The Overview tag attaches to a piece of equipment and reports its location to the Overview platform through the Overview tracker. Once a tag is registered to an asset, you can find that equipment anywhere in your operation.
Figure 1: Tag dimensions (inches)
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Model | OV-1001 |
| Length | 3.00 in |
| Width | 1.42 in |
| Height | 0.82 in |
| Mounting | 4 - 1/4" mounting holes (corners) each |
| Enclosure | Pre-assembled, permanently sealed: watertight and dustproof |
| Identification | Unique Tag ID and QR code on the label |
|
IMPORTANT The tag is pre-assembled and permanently sealed. Do not open, pry, drill through, or otherwise tamper with the tag body. Doing so can break the watertight and dustproof seal and affect the tag's performance. |
|
NOTE Each tag's Tag ID (for example, 0E22CE40) is printed on its label beside the QR code. The app reads it automatically when you scan the QR code, so there's nothing to type in. |
Your tags ship in a Logikos branded Overview carton.

|
NOTE Tags are ready to install straight out of the box. No charging, pairing, or setup is needed before you mount them. |
|
TIP Take the whole carton with you if you're installing multiple tags. |
Correct placement gives you the best signal and a tag that stays put for the life of the equipment.

Some equipment needs the tag mounted inside the housing, for example to protect it from impact or keep it out of the way. For an interior mount:
Figure 5: Example of interior tag placement
For tags mounted on the outside of the equipment, fasten all four attachment points with screws.
Hold the tag flat against the mounting surface with the label right-side up and facing out. If needed, mark the mounting holes.
Drive a screw through one corner mounting hole. Hold the tag in place with your free hand while you work.
Fasten the diagonally opposite corner so the tag sits evenly and can't pivot. Continue fastening the remaining two corners.
Finish by hand with the 5/16” nut driver until the fasteners are snug. Don't over-tighten, which can crack the tag mounting flange or strip the threads.
The tag shouldn't move when you push on it, and the QR label should be clean and fully visible.
|
IMPORTANT Avoid zip ties. They become brittle over time and can let the tag fall off. Avoid glue or epoxy on the bottom of the tag. It destroys the barcode on the underside, which you'll need if the tag is ever replaced. |
With the tag mounted, register it right at the equipment. When you're done, the tag is linked to that asset in Overview and tracking can begin.
|
NOTE Due to the evolving nature of software, the app screens you see may be different from the ones shown here. |
Open the Overview Cloud Mobile app on your phone.
Forgot your password? Tap Recover Password.
The home screen opens with your company name at the top. Tap the Scan Tracker or Tag button in the lower-right corner. This opens your phone's camera.
The first time, allow the app to use your camera if you're asked.
Point the camera at the QR code on the tag you just installed and center it inside the white frame.
The app reads the Tag ID automatically.
A new tag shows the message Tag “[Tag ID]” is Unassigned. Assign it to an Asset? Tap Create New Asset for a new tag straight out of the box.
Use Associate with Asset only when the equipment already exists in Overview but has never had a tag. To replace a tag, choose Replace Existing Tag (see Tag Refresh).
The Create Asset screen opens with the Tag ID already filled in. Under (1) Select Asset Type, open the Asset Type list and pick the type that matches your equipment, such as Fan, Heater, or Neg. Air Exhaust Machine.
The list shows the asset types set up for your company account. Set up your asset types ahead of time in the Overview web portal (Admin > Asset Types). A type that hasn't been set up won't appear here.
Under (2) Enter Name, the app suggests a name made from the asset type and Tag ID (for example, Fan-0E22CE40). Keep the suggested name, or replace it with your company's own equipment number or naming convention. Then tap Next.
Under (3) Enter Serial Number, type the equipment manufacturer's serial number. You can also tap the scan icon at the right of the field to read a barcode from the manufacturer's label. Tap Next.
Under (4) Add Images, you can add a photo of the equipment with its tag installed. Photos make the asset easier to identify later.
Complete the final step to save the asset. The tag is now registered to this piece of equipment.
Once a tag is registered, scanning it or searching for its Tag ID brings up the asset it's linked to. To check, go to Find > Asset and enter the Tag ID. Your new asset (here, Fan-0E22CE40) appears in the results.
|
TIP Repeat Steps 2–8 for each tag. If you checked Remember Me?, you won't need to log in again between tags. Decide on a naming convention before you start, such as Fan-001 or DH-014, so your equipment list stays organized and easy to search. |
Most issues can be fixed in a minute. If yours isn't listed here or doesn't clear up, contact Overview Customer Support.
| Issue | What to Try |
|---|---|
| I can't log in to the app. | Check the spelling of your user name and password. Tap Recover Password to reset it. If you still can't get in, contact Customer Support to confirm your account. |
| The camera won't read the QR code. | Make sure the app has camera permission in your phone's settings. Wipe the label clean, turn on the flash in low light, use the zoom slider, and hold the phone steady with the code centered in the frame. |
| The tag isn't reported as “Unassigned.” | The tag may already be linked to an asset. Search for its Tag ID under Find > Asset to see where it's assigned. Contact Customer Support if it isn't linked to the equipment you expect. |
| The asset type I need isn't in the list. | Asset types are managed for your company in the Overview web portal under Admin > Asset Types. Ask your Overview administrator to add it, or contact Customer Support. |
| I entered the wrong name or serial number. | Find the asset in the Overview portal and update it with Edit Asset, or contact Customer Support. |
| A tag is damaged and needs replacing. | Mount a new tag, scan it, and choose Replace Existing Tag to swap it onto the existing equipment record. The equipment keeps its name and history. Return or dispose of the damaged tag as Customer Support directs. |
| The new asset doesn't show its location yet. | Location updates depend on your Overview tracker coverage. Give the system some time to pick up the tag. If the asset still hasn't updated after that, contact Customer Support. |
