Tag Sniffer and Tag Tally Application Installation

The Tag Sniffer is a USB device that plugs into a Windows laptop. With the Tag Tally software, it lists the Overview tags nearby, so you can walk a job site or warehouse and find equipment that's been left behind.

Find Port

Note the COM port.

Install

Run Tag Tally setup.

Connect

Pick the COM port.

Find your tags.

Before You Begin

Install Tag Tally

1Open Computer Management

On your Windows computer, type Computer Management into the Start menu search and open it.

2Expand Ports

Click Device Manager and expand Ports (COM & LPT).

3Plug in the Tag Sniffer

With Ports still expanded, plug the Tag Sniffer into a USB port. A new COM port appears in the list, for example USB Serial Port (COM4). Write down its COM number.

4Download the software

Download and extract the Tagally.zip file that Overview Customer Support emailed to you.

5Run setup

Double-click setup.exe.

Click Install.

7Allow Windows to run it

If Windows shows a warning, click More info...

8Run anyway

...then click Run anyway.

9Pick the COM port

With the Tag Sniffer still plugged in, choose the COM port you wrote down in step 3.

10Start using it

The Tag Tally window opens. See Use Tag Tally below.
