Before You Begin

In Your OrderWhat You'll Need
  • The Overview warehouse tracker. It's the only tracker with an A/C power supply.
  • An external RFID receiver, if you purchased one
  • Your boxes of tags. You'll borrow 4 tags from one box to test coverage.
  • Your Overview portal user name and password
  • A standard CAT5 or higher network cable, if you have an external receiver
  • Something to write down 4 tag IDs
  • The mounting location you discussed with Overview staff, if you had a consultation

Step 1: Install the Warehouse Tracker

1Identify the warehouse tracker

Check the box labeling. The warehouse tracker is also the only tracker with an A/C power supply.

2Choose the location

Use the location you discussed with Overview staff. With no consultation, the tracker usually goes on the ceiling, in the center of your equipment staging area.

3Mount the tracker

Mount the tracker securely in that location.

External RFID Receiver (If Purchased)

  1. Plug the receiver into the warehouse tracker with a standard CAT5 or higher network cable.
  2. Mount the receiver on the ceiling, as far from the tracker as the cable allows.

No external receiver? Skip ahead to Step 2.

Step 2: Power Up and Check the LEDs

  1. Plug in the warehouse tracker with its A/C power supply.
  2. Watch the tracker: the red and blue LEDs should turn off within 5 minutes.
  3. If you installed a receiver, its green and amber LEDs should be lit.

NOTE

If the red or blue LEDs are still on after 5 minutes, or the receiver's green and amber LEDs aren't lit, contact Overview Customer Support before you continue.

Step 3: Verify Coverage with Four Test Tags

1Take four tags and note their IDs

Take 4 tags from one of your boxes. Write down the tag ID printed on each label, and which corner each one will go in.

2Place one tag in each corner

Place each tag in its designated corner of your storage area, or where Overview staff suggested. Note the time.

3Check that each tag was heard

Wait about 30 minutes. Then sign in to the portal, go to Report > Purchased Tags and click Run Report. Find each of your 4 tag IDs: its Last Heard From time should be after you placed it.

4Check the tracker's location

On the map, make sure the warehouse sits in the right place. If it doesn't, contact Customer Support to have its location changed.

5Put the tags back to use

The test tags aren't attached to anything yet. Install them on equipment like any other tag. See Tag Installation Instructions.
